Buying for buying has blurred our eyesight. We think less and less about ourselves and try to compensate our frustrations by buying and buying, filling the planet with garbage with the excuse of making others happy.
According to Deloitte’s 2018 Christmas consumer study, the reason why we spend more is forgetting about everyday problems.
It is really worrying that the first cause of our purchases is precisely wanting to disconnect from everyday life. We must be doing something wrong if we are really spending money to feel less empty. This shows, first, that we do not need to consume as much, and second, that we are less happy every day. The stress we accumulate becomes garbage.
We have a solution
We need to spend more time with ourselves and think about the happiness of the people around us. When offering a gift, we should ask and not suppose or go for the simplest gifts to make. Possibly your mother is longing to spend a weekend away from home and relax surrounded by nature. Unfortunately it will not be the first thing you think of and perhaps it will not even be one of your options.
We must not only do it for the happiness and well-being of our friends and family, but we must also start thinking about all the garbage we generate and how quickly climate change is taking place because of our ignorance.
Start by shopping with awareness and give an unforgettable experience to the people you love most.
