If a desire has arisen in you to spend a few days connecting more deeply with yourself, you may wonder: What will I find in a Silence retreat?
I love silence. For me, it is a source of happiness that I allow myself to enjoy frequently. Silence is not just the absence of sounds; it is a natural state of consciousness. When we stop getting worried about the things that happen and connect more with what we are. Those things keep happening anyways, but they stop to generate noise inside ourselves.
They are like deep rumours that do not have the power to absorb our attention.
However, I admit that external silence has helped me a lot to recognize the chatter of the little mind which, in the midst of external turmoil, goes unnoticed and continues to condition our lives. Being silent, stop talking about things that happen, withdrawing attention from what happens out there, from what others do… Silence reveals our inner landscape very clearly and allows us to lose the fear of being in our own presence. And this is a luxury.
For this reason, in our Silence retreats, we promote spaces of silence. We offer ourselves to our friendly company and learn to enjoy it.
No one needs of our help, because everyone is taking care of themselves. There’s nothing to do. It is an enormous relief that space of freedom that remains when we leave everything, including our personal history, our past, our future, and we simply are what we are, in total simplicity and transparency..
Simplicity
For a few days, we enjoy the beautiful experience of simplicity.
Beautiful spaces to walk, clean air, clear water, a little comfortable clothing, a bed, simple and healthy food and a whole lot of time … for what we never have time to do: our own life.
No business to attend to, no children to pick up from school, no errands to do, no professional responsibilities to fulfil. A time outside of social networks, screens, emails … Outside social commitments or family obligations … Outside the stories added to the simplicity of your own life. Can you imagine?
Spaces to feel and contemplate. Guided meditations to facilitate your privacy. Meals without haste, that invite you to savor and recover the pleasure of the authentic. And moments to share in the understanding with those human beings who smile at you in silence when you cross them.
Quite a proposal to integrate into our daily lives. Pure simplicity.
Being with what is
A Silence retreat is a constant invitation to coming back to the Life in you.
Back to now.
Even if what you experience is some kind of pain in the body or if emotional suffering arises, you can allow yourself to feel what you feel. You can give yourself space to observe and let go of all that chatter of the mind that tells you weary stories.
A spiritual retreat can help you get used to being with what it is. It can help you immerse yourself in the moment and trust it, without the need to always be doing things or looking for solutions. To develop a kind and understanding attention in the intimacy of the heart towards your own life.
Encounters from the Heart
And we live this together. We are not alone. Even in the silence, those around us are our mirrors. We can experience a lot of understanding in the presence of other human beings. We meet each day to share in moments of meditative talks.
We also share our meals and our walks, in many silent moments; our meditations and stretching… We simply share our BEING.
