Retreat To Find, and many other reasons why a you should go on a retreat. Take a step back, breathe deeply and leave the quotidian to immerse yourself in the extra-ordinary.
Generally, we tend to feel tired but, what of? In my opinion, to a large extent, of ourselves. We believe that it is because of our job, our routine, of external circumstances … but in the end it has less to do with this, and more with the way in which we deal with this.
Tired of playing a role that sometimes we do not recognize as ours, of trying to give our best in life and feel that, somehow, it is never enough. Tired of not understanding, of sustaining, of making ourselves stronger, of pretending, of Trying to measure up, of not being able, of not believing, of distrusting, of defending ourselves, of suffering, of not being able to feel …
Although we are all made with the same ingredients, alchemy makes everyone unique in our mixes.
Some are over-sceptic; other have excessive faith. For some, a sense of emptiness and nonsense overwhelms them while they lie on the couch and wonder why. Others fill their lives with a frantic activity aimed at achieving work and success.
There are those who do not have self-esteem, but also those who sin from over confidence. Those who are unable to feel more than strength and those who can only sustain tenderness.
Those who use the mind as a mighty queen forgetting the body and feelings, while some others only feel and ignore their common sense.
That art of the tightrope balancer, who is able to live in the thin string of life without being dragged over the edges, knowing that the rope will never be perfectly balanced. It is the sway itself what makes balance possible, and, to find this balance it is just a matter of retiring to find.
In the society in which we live, a strong importance is given to external achievements, but internal ones are not recognized in the same way. More and more people are dependent on anxiolytics, antidepressants and more and more people die of heart diseases and malfunctioning. The heart, the big Forgotten One. Still, it seems that we do not want to pay attention to these symptoms and we prefer to keep the machine at full speed.
When we decide to do a retreat, there is an internal voice that whispers from somewhere forgotten… What is that? An eagerness to explore, to search, to experience something different from what we live every day is born within us.
We have forgotten who we are. Not only on a spiritual level, but also on an instinctive level. We have disconnected not only from our essence, but also from our body. We use the body as a machine from which we must onatin the best performance, without stopping to feel it, to listen to it or to really know it.
We create a mental image of who we are and dedicate our lives to pay homage to that idea, forgetting the reality of our feelings.
When we take some time to retreat and explore, specifically if it is a body meditation retreat, not only do we work with the disconnection from exterior influnces, we also work with the deep inner connection by going to and feeling the body. From the inside to the outside, feeling our movements, the tensions and listening to our breathing.
We try to find that balance between what I feel, what I think, what I say and what I do, basing self-knowledge on what we are at an instinctive and biological level. And, from there, going through the secrets of the heart and the mind.
An opportunity to discover yourself from another place; to find forgotten parts of yourself that have always been there and that will help you better manage your day to day.
