We live in a society that absolutely fosters the mental. A society where emotions count little or nothing. A society where competitiveness, materiality, lies and the lack of sincere kindness are ubiquitous.
From the moment we are born, we are bombarded by hundreds and hundreds of mental codes about how we should act in our lives (dressing, talking, eating, relating, working…) This of course has tremendous influence in our values and they way we live our lives. This influence causes us to feel constantly insecure, paranoid and fearful. Due to this constant unconscious clash between the inherited and our essence, we feel permanently in contradiction within ourselves.
I am convinced that one of the best moments a person can have in their life is when we get out of this blindness, either by ourselves, or by the example. Sometimes even someone else’s words can be the trigger, the moment when for the first time, you begin to realize yourself, become aware of your impulses, your acquired mechanisms and…yes finally realize!
This day is a great day to celebrate, but it is still an iceberg tip of hundreds and hundreds of mental codes that we drag and that constantly make us act in an “impulsive” way. There are many layers to uncover, and we need to do it with tenderness and love. It is reasonable to tend to get angry and ask ourselves “why have I acted like this, if I didn’t want to?”
To begin to put an end to this, in my experience, we need to dedicate a lot, a lot of time to ourselves and become our absolute priority. If you want to start a new life, much more conscious and in accordance with what our heart, soul, essence, tells you, you should begin by spending time with yourself.
Spiritual retreats: a good place to start
If we are already at that point, we will begin to see other possibilities, another way of living. We will look for like-minded people and we will consider seeking help, in an individual therapy or in spiritual retreats.
Spiritual retreats are very good, as they are spaces for observation. They offer a space to take a pause and merge in a very different environment to what we usually find in the streets in our day to day.
I actually think that the next quality step in this path is to go on a retreat for several days in nature, because, logically, the longer we are in these spaces, the deeper the work. There is no doubt that being in these environments enhances our sensibility, creativity, tranquillity, disposition to play, ability to be affectionate.
It seems to me that retreating towards nature to observe us is something essential to regain contact with ourselves. If this we do it in the company of people who share our interest, with the desire to help us, to support us, to grow together…It seems to me one of the best possible medicines.
It is in these spaces where we can learn many new tools that we can later bring to our day to day. This is a great quality leap when it comes to realizing who we are and never forgetting ourselves.
I have no doubt that the next and last step would be to live in this way permanently, in nature and in a community that supports each other. My dream and my message both go in this direction.
Thank you very much for reading me and having come this far! Hopefully every day we realize more who we are. Let’s not forget that we do have, the ability to Love and Laugh.
