What activities can I find on a retreat?

Although each retreat is a unique experience in and of itself, they do have some common aspects. Personal growth retreats tend to be full of specific content and dynamics organised around the theme of the retreat in question. They are focused on addressing the needs of the group and individuals. 

Rest retreats are based on creating a calm space for contemplation. As the name implies, meditation retreats are focused on the meditative practice, and generally fall into one of two categories: external and active, or internal and introspective. Yoga retreats are based on the practice of yoga and can differ significantly depending on the style of yoga taught. Conscious travel is a traveling retreat where a wide variety of dynamics are mixed with more classic elements of cultural tourism.

Detox retreats aim to bring attention to body purification processes and the resulting emotional responses. Retreats revolving around art are spaces dedicated to artistic practice and creation, similar to traditional artistic residencies.

Is previous experience needed for certain retreats?

In general, previous experience is not typically necessary. Otherwise, this specification will be in the listing. Certain retreats involve specific techniques such as yoga and meditation. Sometimes, these retreats are intended for guests with an intermediate or advanced level.

What is the purpose of going on a retreat?

Your intentionality sets the purpose, although it tends to revolve around stepping out of your comfort zone, experiencing new things, and venturing down untrodden paths. Retreats focused on training may have different goals focused on acquiring certain knowledge that may be mapped out by the teachers themselves.

Will I be interacting with other people?

There are two kinds of retreats: group retreats and individual retreats.


Regardless of the topic, group retreats are those where group interactions are a key aspect of the experience and, although there may be individual work, there is intensive contact with the group. On the other hand, individual retreats are a space for one's self, where you decide how and when to interact with others.

This depends on how much time you have. There are many incredible experiences just around the corner. On the other hand, traveling is always a delight, and there’s nothing quite like discovering new and exotic locations.

Discovering different cultures, other ways of doing things, and enjoying a new climate can all make visiting another country during different times of the year quite attractive. When you’re interested in a certain type of retreat or work associated with disciplines originating from a different part of the world, going to that location can be quite powerful.

What kind of food is served?

Vegetarian food is typically served, however, each retreat venue has its variations. Local and organic products are typical. Retreat venues tend to take great care when it comes to meals, which is always a great opportunity to try new dishes and flavours. This often leads to a new perspective other than what we’re used to.


Each listing explains exactly what kind of food will be served on each retreat. Don’t forget that you can always communicate with organisers about any food-related concern or dietary need.

Can I use my mobile?

As in many other cases, it’s a question of common sense. There’s a time for everything on a retreat, including communicating with your loved ones. Sometimes the organisers and facilitators themselves will set rules on mobile phone use when it benefits the retreat’s practice.

Will I have to remain silent the whole time?

This clearly depends on the type of retreat.


Sometimes retreats focus on introspection and meditative practices. However, not all retreats are the same. There are retreats that are supposed to be fun, such as a laugh therapy retreat, where silence is notably absent. There are also retreats where silence is a fundamental component, such as Vipassana or meditation retreats.

Can I smoke on the retreat?

Most retreats ask that you try to smoke as little as possible or not at all, but in cases where this is not possible, there are always certain spaces provided where you can smoke. On health-focused retreats, it's important not to smoke. This is indicated in the retreat's description.

We divided the retreats into six main categories to help you better focus your search. You can select different types depending on what you’re looking for. This filtered search is a great way to whittle down the number of results, focusing on a retreat location you like, a specific category, topic, or dates you have available.

How do the categories work?

First, we have primary categories: Personal Growth, Yoga, Rest, Meditation, Detox, Tantra, Silence, Training, and Conscious Travel. All our retreats fall into at least one of these main categories.

Then we have categories by topic, such as Silence, Ayurveda, Mindfulness, etc., which directs us towards a specific technique or topic.

I’m allergic to gluten or have other dietary needs

If this is the case, it’s important to get in contact with the organisers to let them know. Our experience is that this is not usually a problem and that the organisers themselves will typically be able to offer you an alternative menu.

Are meals included?

Yes, 95% of retreats include room and board in the retreat’s rate. Even so, this is specified in the “what does the retreat include” section. If meals are not included, this is clearly specified.

How can I make a list of retreats that interest me?

When you want to select a retreat you’re interested in, just click on the icon in the photo to add it to your list. You can add all the retreats that pique your interest so you can compare them later on and choose the best option for you.

How do I get to the retreat location?

Each retreat’s listing includes all of the information necessary to get to your destination without any issues. The retreat venue’s exact location and information on the closest public transportation stop are provided. Remember that you will receive a reservation confirmation email with the retreat’s location and other important information once you complete your booking. This confirmation will also contain contact information for the organisers.

¨Is the trip there included in the retreat price/package?

Each listing specifies what is and is not included. In general, getting to and from the retreat is not typically included, except the conscious travel experiences. Conscious travel experiences will specify the location where they begin and end. Getting to the location where the experience begins is the traveler's responsibility.

What rooms are available with my retreat?

These details are always specified on the retreat's listing. Sometimes there are group rooms, individual rooms, or double rooms, some with private bathrooms and others with shared bathrooms.

Is the bathroom private or shared?

You can find information about each retreat’s bathroom options on its listing. Room details are provided there. Typically, shared rooms have a shared bathroom. Individual rooms with a bathroom tend to be more expensive. Some retreats only offer individual rooms with individual bathrooms. If you have any questions about this, please contact the organiser directly by sending them a message. They will get back to you as soon as possible by email or telephone, depending on what options you have provided.

How do I book a retreat?

To book a reservation, select the type of product (1 guest in an individual room, for example), then fill in the information needed for the reservation on the left-hand side of the screen (name, telephone number, email, comments, date of birth, etc.), accept the terms and conditions, and confirm. Continue to pay, and once payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email automatically.

No, it’s completely FREE. In exchange, you’ll earn discounts with Dharmas that you can apply to your future retreats.

What is the difference between a reservation and a reservation request?

A reservation is instant and requires no spot request process. If there is any issue, we notify you immediately after booking your retreat. 

With a reservation request, on the other hand, your spot is not yet confirmed. After submitting your request, you will receive an email with availability and a link for you to book your final reservation within a maximum of 24 hours.

Is my spot guaranteed if I make a reservation request?

No, you will need to wait for a confirmation. Once you receive it, your spot will be guaranteed once you pay the deposit within a maximum period of 24 hours following the confirmation.

How long does an organiser have to respond to a reservation request?

You should receive a response within 24 to 48 hours from the moment you submitted your request. If no one contacted you, please contact the Help Desk as soon as possible and address this matter. We will be more than happy to assist you.

What information do I need to enter when booking a reservation?

To book a reservation, you must enter the following information: name and surname(s) of the individual attending, if there will be other guests, age, email, mobile number, and any additional information you need to share such as allergies, arrival time, if you will be there more or fewer days, and if there is any special need that must be accommodated.

Do I need to register as a user before booking a reservation?

You don’t need to register on our platform to manage a reservation. Once you’ve made your reservation, you can access your user profile.

Can a retreat be cancelled?

This situation is not typical, but it is possible. Not having enough attendees to form a group can be one of the reasons a retreat gets cancelled. Also, the retreat venue has an unexpected problem. Or the facilitator is unable to lead the retreat due to personal reasons.

What options do I have if the retreat I was going to go on is cancelled?

Don’t worry! We will offer you other retreat options. We will also provide you with a voucher for your next retreat. Also, if you prefer, we will refund your entire deposit.

What happens to my reservation if an organiser cancels the retreat?

If an organiser cancels the retreat due to force majeure, we will try to find an alternative for the exact dates so you can still enjoy your retreat experience. If this is not the case, your reservation will be refunded in full.

To reserve your spot, you will have to pay the deposit indicated on the listing.

You can pay online with a credit card or using PayPal. You can also pay via bank transfer, in which case you should contact us for our bank details.

Is it possible for the deposit to be the entire price of the retreat?

This is not typical, however, some organisers may require the entire amount to be paid through Inspyria so that you don’t have to handle the balance once you arrive.

Inspyria works hard to ensure the security of all aspects of the platform. We take great care to safeguard our payment processes. That being said, you can enhance your security by using a secure connection and by avoiding the public wifi networks that often offer no security guarantees.

I’ve already booked my reservation, when do I need to pay the balance?

The remaining balance is usually paid upon your arrival at the retreat. However, in some cases, organisers ask that the reservation be paid in full a few days before your arrival. The organiser will let you know if this is the case, and provide you with payment options.

How and to whom do I pay the remaining retreat balance?

After you have paid your deposit on the Inspyria platform, you will pay the remaining balance on-site, at the retreat you will be attending, making payment to the individual indicated by the organise

What is a cancellation policy?

A cancellation policy is the way flexible reservations are managed if you cancel your booking. You can read more about it on each retreat’s listing: 


FLEXIBLE: if cancelled more than 10 days before the retreat’s start date, an EXCHANGEABLE VOUCHER will be provided for 100% of the deposit. If 10 days or less before the retreat, the deposit is not refunded.


MODERATE: if cancelled more than 30 days before the retreat’s start date, an EXCHANGEABLE VOUCHER will be provided for 100% of the deposit. If 30 days or less before the retreat, the deposit is not refunded.


STRICT: the reserved retreat’s dates are changed if cancelled more than 10 days before the retreat."

Can I cancel my reservation at any time?

Yes, you can cancel your reservation at any time. Your deposit will be refunded in the form of a VOUCHER depending on the number of days left before the retreat starts and the policy established for each retreat. To cancel, contact our Help Desk. You have three options:


Public transportation: the organiser will tell you about this option, but you can also contact our friendly Help Desk, and we’ll get you sorted as soon as possible.


Private vehicle: if there is no other way of getting there.


Shared vehicle: the organiser offers spots to those that need transportation with those that want to share.

What is the closest airport to my retreat?

Not all retreats require flights. Inspyria supports protecting the environment, which is why public transportation is always our first travel option. If that’s not possible, there may be an option to share private transportation with other guests. If you need a flight and want to find the nearest airport, ask the organiser directly, which you can do without even registering. If you prefer, contact our friendly Help Desk and we’ll give you a hand. If you decide to fly, we always recommend opting for cancellation insurance in case the retreat must be called off due to force majeure.

Where can the retreat organiser pick me up?

Not all organisers provide a pick up point option. However they will always lend a hand and let you know if there is a public transportation option. Sometimes the group will set a pick up point and you can share a car if you so choose.

Can the organiser provide a transfer service to get to the retreat?

Organisers may offer you a transfer service to get to the retreat if they so choose. They will tell you about all the options available, and inform you of additional costs to keep in mind. This expense is not reflected in the deposit. If you decide to book transportation, you must be aware of the cancellation conditions if something unexpected comes up. If you have any questions, please contact our friendly Help Desk before finalising your reservation.

How do I reset my password?

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking on “I forgot my password” and typing in your contact email. You will receive a message with instructions on how to create a new password. If you prefer, you can also get in contact with the Help Desk.

How can I unsubscribe from the newsletter?

Dharma is a type of currency that you can earn through your reservations, organiser questions, or reviewing retreats. Ultimately, it’s like a piggy bank that you can use to get a discount on your next retreat.

Dharmas can be used to enjoy discounts on your future reservations with us. 100 Dharmas get you a discount of €1 or the equivalent in your country’s currency.

What do I have to do to earn Dharmas?

You can earn Dharmas in various ways: earn 300D for registering as an Insppyria user, 300D for reviewing your experience, and one Dharma for every Euro you spend with us. For example, a €500 reservation earns you 500 Dharmas. You can find more information on the Dharmas page, linked at the bottom of the page.

Plus, if you share your Friend Code and your friend uses it to book a reservation, you’ll earn more Dharmas, which means a higher discount with your next reservation. You can find your code in the Dharmas section of your dashboard.
