Art, Yoga and Meditation are different ways of doing the same thing. They are a state of consciousness, a living of the Present Moment. They allow the flow of the soul in each breath, in each mantra, Asana, brush-stroke, or sketch …
You cannot create without being connected with yourself, as much as you cannot do yoga without this attitude, since it would be not art but aesthetic painting and not yoga but gymnastics.
The attitude of Being Here and Now, of reconnecting with oneself and with wholeness, the attitude of letting go of the internal fight and flowing are essential in art and yoga. Even though they seem different things in this hazy reality in which we live, in the end they are exactly the same: An act of devotion and respect, of acceptance and inner peace. You cannot create without sincerity, without acceptance, without love ? you cannot build an Asana with fear, with ego, with comparison and judgment.
From non-duality one loves and feels, without needing to understand everything, without needing to be right about something. From non-duality one can create. Art is intimately associated with spirituality, used in many cults and rites as means to reach a less tangible side of us, connecting also to other higher entities. It is a symbolization and a door between the human and the divine ? but perhaps it is something more, perhaps it is not a door or a path: the artistic experience and the Spiritual are in essence the same.
When art is felt and lived as something sincere, it requires introspection. In this form, we create art from another deeper, more essential place of being ? from the Soul. It is not the mind, nor a thought, not even the emotion of a given moment, but the soul in its most liberated essence? From there a form of art arises that makes you vibrate and that, when you see it, you can feel that there really is something else ?
